This Great Gatsby styled shoot at Rancho Los Cerritos in Long Beach, CA has won my heart!  I attended a workshop recently where I had the opportunity to photograph this styled shoot and it was one of my favorite events so far this year. This venue has a rustic feel to the entire property that brings so much to the photographs and it’s simply a lovely location. Spencer and Ryan were such a sweet couple and made it easy to get good photographs. The cake you see is from My Sweet & Saucy and since I follow her on Twitter it was a delightful surprise to get to photograph one of her lovely creations. All the amazing vendors brought this shoot together beautifully. A big thanks to Gloria McCune and her mad styling skills!

Last year I started a new tradition, a fun and creative Valentine’s Day inspiration shoot. It’s my one shoot a year where I get to be as creative as I want with the location and little details. I picked out all the decor and picked up the cupcakes from Nadia Cakes in Palmdale, CA. Below are several photographs from my Valentine’s Day inspiration shoot at the Ventura Beach Pier in Ventura, CA. I love the lace detail on the bride’s gown! (Thanks Luke and Sharon! Jaclyn didn’t even want to go out that night. Who would have thought that they would get married one day? Their wedding day took place at Hacienda Reyes Ranch in Palmdale, CA on Sept. 4, 2010 at 5pm. Their western style wedding had a mixture of purples and yellows for the colors. The guys all wore cowboy hats and boots and the girls wore cute summer dresses from David’s Bridal. As the guests arrived they had Lemonade and Sweet Tea available to keep them cool which the bride put together with wooden boxes and rusty metal signs to go with her rugged cowboy theme. Jaclyn was very much a DIY bride and she along with her friend Audrey did most the decorating. Her reception centerpieces were made up of wooden boxes with purple and yellow flowers from The Farmer’s Wife Florist. They also had candles in old fashioned canning jars with twine ribbon around them. She used canning jars with sunflowers in them to hang on the chairs that lined the isle where the ceremony took place. They made a card holder from a long wooden box and rusty piece of metal. Jaclyn’s decoration details really added to her rugged style wedding.

I met Janelle while we were in college and we’ve been best buds ever since. We were both from opposite ends of the great state of Oregon and to make a long story short we ended up finding out that her dad and my uncle knew one another quite well. Janelle went to school with my cousins and Janelle’s dad had worked with my uncle on construction projects. What a small world!  Jonathan, Janelle and their son Josiah now live in Florida and while they were out visiting last week we got together for a little family shoot at the park. Thanks for the fun time Gibbs Family!! Love you guys!

My favorite :)

We gave Josiah blueberries to keep him happy for the second half of the session so I  had to get pictures with his mouth closed because it was fill with blueness.

Blueberries all gone now. :)   I was holding his favorite book full of trucks and tractors to get a good smile. He loves tractors!

Dada threw him up in the air a few times but Josiah wasn’t too sure about going too high.

Corey is in the Army and took a short leave to come see Joy here in Lancaster and get their engagement pictures done. The lovely 100 mph freezing winds seemed to just make their session a little bit more fun and forced us to get creative with trying to keep Joy’s hair down and Corey’s fingers from going numb. Congrats Joy and Corey, it was great getting to know you two!
