Santa Clarita Mini Session: Jeong Family

This time of year with all the mini photo sessions is always so much fun because I get to see so many people in just a few short weeks. Tonight I am sharing the Jeong Family’s session out at Placerita Canyon Natural Area. I love that area and so do a lot of other photographers. Every time I went out there for a session on the weekend this month there were at least two other photographers there. There is plenty of space for everyone though!

I love tromping around in nature and the Placerita Canyon Nature Center is just the place to do that. They have several trails for hiking and lots of beautiful trees. I’m so glad the fire didn’t burn it all, I can’t say the same for just down the road a ways. It’s all burnt to a crisp at another one of my favorite spots. 🙁

Little Noah was ready to explore as soon as we got started with the session. Though he usually wanted to go the opposite direction that we wanted to go. lol That’s how it goes with littles though! There was a lot of bribing going on. Mom brought Cheerios and bubbles as leverage.

We walked around a little bit and made stops along the way when we found a place we liked and thought we could distract Noah long enough to get a few photos before retiring to the Cheerios and bubbles. I think all kids go through phases of wanting one parent over the other and this week Noah happened to want Mom all the time but he did let Dad hold him a few times for a brief few seconds.

Just as we were wrapping up their session Noah broke out the cutest smiles. He was holding fists full of Cheerios too so it was even more cute! Such a cheese ball!

Thank you Jeong Family of having me photograph you all! I so enjoyed chasing Noah around and getting some beautiful photos of you all. – Megan

TAP Ranch: Nicole & Jesse

I am excited to share Nicole and Jesse’s rustic wedding at TAP Ranch near Santa Clarita on the blog today! These two are the nicest people and so easy going.

They started off their wedding day getting ready at the Sweetwater Movieland Ranch. This is also where they had their First Look and took some portraits together and with their bridal party. It was an overcast day which was perfect for having some nice even light in their photos!

After they we finished at Sweetwater we headed over to TAP Ranch for the wedding ceremony and reception. The best part about TAP Ranch is that it’s a horse ranch and who doesn’t love horses? The guests were seated on hay bales and the ceremony took place at the top of a small hill by one of the barns. It did start raining a little towards the end of the ceremony and got pretty chilly but everyone still kept smiling!

The reception took place under the stars with pretty patio lights. Their first dance was so beautiful to watch. As the music played in the background they both were beaming and even tearing up over how happy they were to be married.

I think my favorite part from Nicole and Jesse’s day was the look on Jesse’s face when he saw Nicole for the first time. Jesse covered his mouth with his hand as tears began to well up in his eyes. It was perfect!

Congrats Nicole and Jesse! I am so happy for the two of you! Thank you for having be capture your beautiful day. Your love for one another, kind demeanors and easy going personalities were what I loved about working with the two of you. All the best to you both in your future together…Megan

Santa Clarita Engagement: Nicole & Jesse

Tonight I get to share Nicole and Jesse’s sweet engagement session! These two are the sweetest and I loved photographing them in one of my favorite Santa Clarita locations.

Nicole and Jesse met while in college at Cal State University, Northridge and got engaged in 2014. When I met with the two of them to talk wedding photography details they told me that one of their favorite things to do was vacation in Colorado. Considering that I think Colorado is pretty cool and have always wanted to visit I knew they had to be great people. 🙂

They were nothing short of easy going during their engagement session. We explored around the area a little and had a great time finding good spots to stop and take photos. It was such a perfect day with a cooler temperature but not too cold. It was just right! We didn’t have to swat bugs away the whole time either and considering that is not always the case at the spot we were photographing, I was very excited about that.

Just about every couple I have the privilege of photographing is not used to being in front of the camera so when it comes time for the engagement session people aren’t sure how comfortable they’ll be when I stick my camera in their face. Towards the end of Nicole and Jesse’s session Jesse commented on how fun and easy it was. Being able to set people’s nerves at ease and help them to relax and have fun is always one of my goals. I’m so glad that these two felt exactly that way during their engagement session, the pictures always come out better when a couple is able to feel comfortable and have fun.

I am so very happy for you Nicole and Jesse! I can’t wait for your ranch wedding this June! -Megan

Stephanie & Patrick: Camarillo Ranch

Stephanie and Patrick’s wedding at the historic Camarillo Ranch was absolutely gorgeous! These two were such a dream to work with and I love getting to photograph weddings at places with so much history. Camarillo Ranch is one of those places that I could explore for hours just looking at all the old things and reading about the history. That sort of thing is fascinating to me. The grounds are so pretty with several great places to take photos. The beautiful victorian style ranch house, stables and a barn all from the 1800’s. I may have a slight obsession with old barns. I love them!

Stephanie got ready for her big day in one of the rooms of the house and just outside was the gazebo where the ceremony was held. She looked amazing! The ceremony went smoothly, lots of laughs were shared and maybe a tear or two shed. At the end of their ceremony the bridal party exited epically with a little mini dance party as each of them walked back down the isle. It was hilarious and fun to photograph!

I love that Stephanie and Patrick are so easy going and that it’s very hard to get a bad photograph of these two! They were up for walking all over for photos and just very chill the entire day. I loved watching the two of them interact and seeing them with the biggest smiles ever as Stephanie walked down the isle. They such a sweet couple and blend together so perfectly.

Thank you Stephanie and Patrick for allowing me to be a small part of your day as your wedding photographer! Loved getting to know you two and wish you God’s many blessings in your future together at Mr. & Mrs. Patrick Murphy!

Smith Family: Santa Clarita

Meet the Smith Family! Todd is the Pastor of Crossroads Community Church here in Santa Clarita. When Eric and I moved to Santa Clarita a little over 4 years ago the first thing we did was try out a few churches in the area. Our first Sunday at Crossroads community church we knew that this church was right where God wanted us. God is using Pastor Todd and his family in mighty ways here in Santa Clarita! We love this family and are so excited about the future of Crossroads and moving into the building!

I’m so happy with with how their family session turned out and love the location they chose. Mentryville is always a fun place to explore. The weather seemed to mostly cooperate. It wasn’t blistering hot or anything and other than swatting a few flies here and there it was a beautiful evening. Towards the end of their session we got some beautiful backlight and I think those photos are my favorite. 🙂 They may not believe it as most people don’t but they were so easy to photograph and they are such a good looking family! They have such kind and genuine smiles that seemed to come naturally. Well, maybe after making fun of each other but that’s what family is for right? I love to see how families interact together and make each other laugh. It’s so much fun and I always find myself laughing behind the camera as I’m taking photos. Laughing with them of course, not at them. 🙂

Thank you Pastor Todd and family for having me photograph you all! It was such a pleasure! Thank you for following God’s leading in your lives and for being such kind, loving and humble people that we get to walk alongside of as part of the Crossroads Community Church family.
