Santa Clarita Mini Session: Jeong Family

This time of year with all the mini photo sessions is always so much fun because I get to see so many people in just a few short weeks. Tonight I am sharing the Jeong Family’s session out at Placerita Canyon Natural Area. I love that area and so do a lot of other photographers. Every time I went out there for a session on the weekend this month there were at least two other photographers there. There is plenty of space for everyone though!

I love tromping around in nature and the Placerita Canyon Nature Center is just the place to do that. They have several trails for hiking and lots of beautiful trees. I’m so glad the fire didn’t burn it all, I can’t say the same for just down the road a ways. It’s all burnt to a crisp at another one of my favorite spots. 🙁

Little Noah was ready to explore as soon as we got started with the session. Though he usually wanted to go the opposite direction that we wanted to go. lol That’s how it goes with littles though! There was a lot of bribing going on. Mom brought Cheerios and bubbles as leverage.

We walked around a little bit and made stops along the way when we found a place we liked and thought we could distract Noah long enough to get a few photos before retiring to the Cheerios and bubbles. I think all kids go through phases of wanting one parent over the other and this week Noah happened to want Mom all the time but he did let Dad hold him a few times for a brief few seconds.

Just as we were wrapping up their session Noah broke out the cutest smiles. He was holding fists full of Cheerios too so it was even more cute! Such a cheese ball!

Thank you Jeong Family of having me photograph you all! I so enjoyed chasing Noah around and getting some beautiful photos of you all. – Megan

TAP Ranch: Nicole & Jesse

I am excited to share Nicole and Jesse’s rustic wedding at TAP Ranch near Santa Clarita on the blog today! These two are the nicest people and so easy going.

They started off their wedding day getting ready at the Sweetwater Movieland Ranch. This is also where they had their First Look and took some portraits together and with their bridal party. It was an overcast day which was perfect for having some nice even light in their photos!

After they we finished at Sweetwater we headed over to TAP Ranch for the wedding ceremony and reception. The best part about TAP Ranch is that it’s a horse ranch and who doesn’t love horses? The guests were seated on hay bales and the ceremony took place at the top of a small hill by one of the barns. It did start raining a little towards the end of the ceremony and got pretty chilly but everyone still kept smiling!

The reception took place under the stars with pretty patio lights. Their first dance was so beautiful to watch. As the music played in the background they both were beaming and even tearing up over how happy they were to be married.

I think my favorite part from Nicole and Jesse’s day was the look on Jesse’s face when he saw Nicole for the first time. Jesse covered his mouth with his hand as tears began to well up in his eyes. It was perfect!

Congrats Nicole and Jesse! I am so happy for the two of you! Thank you for having be capture your beautiful day. Your love for one another, kind demeanors and easy going personalities were what I loved about working with the two of you. All the best to you both in your future together…Megan

Stephanie & Patrick: Camarillo Ranch

Stephanie and Patrick’s wedding at the historic Camarillo Ranch was absolutely gorgeous! These two were such a dream to work with and I love getting to photograph weddings at places with so much history. Camarillo Ranch is one of those places that I could explore for hours just looking at all the old things and reading about the history. That sort of thing is fascinating to me. The grounds are so pretty with several great places to take photos. The beautiful victorian style ranch house, stables and a barn all from the 1800’s. I may have a slight obsession with old barns. I love them!

Stephanie got ready for her big day in one of the rooms of the house and just outside was the gazebo where the ceremony was held. She looked amazing! The ceremony went smoothly, lots of laughs were shared and maybe a tear or two shed. At the end of their ceremony the bridal party exited epically with a little mini dance party as each of them walked back down the isle. It was hilarious and fun to photograph!

I love that Stephanie and Patrick are so easy going and that it’s very hard to get a bad photograph of these two! They were up for walking all over for photos and just very chill the entire day. I loved watching the two of them interact and seeing them with the biggest smiles ever as Stephanie walked down the isle. They such a sweet couple and blend together so perfectly.

Thank you Stephanie and Patrick for allowing me to be a small part of your day as your wedding photographer! Loved getting to know you two and wish you God’s many blessings in your future together at Mr. & Mrs. Patrick Murphy!

Nancy’s Ranch: Tim, Shaunna & Archie

We’ve known Tim & Shaunna for about 3 years now and they have become good friends so naturally I was so excited when she asked me to take pictures of them!  This time of year it’s so much fun to photograph families for their Christmas Cards but it’s even better when you already know one another.  Tim and Shaunna have a third family known as Archie the Pug and he got to come along for the photos too. He was such a good little doggie! He was like a pug model or something with his serious expressions most of the time, made for such cute photos! Loved Tim & Shaunna’s outfits and Archie’s little Christmas sweater! Went perfectly with the cut-your-own Christmas Tree background at Nancy’s Ranch.

Sleeping Beauty Princess

Ayla: Sleeping Beauty Princess

This little girl is turning 4!! She is having a princess themed birthday party so for her birthday photo shoot she dressed up in the cutest Sleeping Beauty outfit from an Etsy shop Rock the Journey. Her mom and a friend made the wooden swing seat and I pulled out my mad knot tying skills to hang the swing in one of my favorite photo spots in Santa Clarita. I also made a trip to the LA Flower Market with some friends last week and that’s were I picked up the flowers for putting on the rope swing. It turned out perfectly! Little girls love to play dress up and I have never seen Sleeping Beauty look quite so cute!

If you are interested in making your own swing A helpful post we found on how to make a wooden tree swing was on Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom. The knots I made were fisherman’s knots and I got the idea from Gardenista.
