Pasadena Family Session: Kay Family

I so enjoyed seeing the Kay family again for their family session in Old Town Pasadena. Last time I photographed this family Gina was still pregnant with their youngest. It’s so neat to see little ones grow. Their two boys are just the sweetest and cutest little things!

The little alley way was the perfect spot for their mini session. There was a little garden area next to a building with that cool tall gate you see at the beginning of their session. Like most of Old Town Pasadena there was lots of brick and probably my favorite thing was the old coal chute. I didn’t even see it there until Terry pointed out how much he liked it. I love anything with a bit of history behind it. It makes me imagine the old days and how there was so much more manual labor involved with day to day responsibilities.

Towards the end of their session we made sure to grab a few shots of just Terry & Gina. I always encourage parents to do that during their family session. So often life gets busy and everything tends to revolve around the kids so it’s nice to get a good portrait of just mom and dad.

Terry and Gina were kind enough to offer to watch Ellie for us while we had a little dinner date. I can’t tell you how nice it was to have an uninterrupted dinner. Usually Ellie is a little fussy in the evenings when she is at home but she loves being out and about walking so she loved it too. They took her with them while they got ice cream for their boys and said that she was such a good girl. Eric and I enjoyed a burger at Slater’s 50/50 and then stopped and got some gelato. Thank you Terry & Gina!!

Santa Clarita Maternity: Drew & Emily

This maternity session with Drew, Emily, Reese & baby Finn was so fun and the photographs are just dreamy! How cute is big sister Reese! Oh. My. Goodness!! That girl has some serious cute going on. She must get it from her two hot parents. 🙂  Drew and Emily are good friends of my husband and I so it’s ok for me to say that. lol

It seems like just last week that I was photographing Reese as a newborn (See her 1yr photos too) and now she is going to be a big sister! For their Maternity/Family session we walked down a trail in Towsley Canyon just a little ways and started off with some family photos of the four of them. It wasn’t too long into the session that Reese pulled the diva card and started asking for water and snacks pronto. lol Being a two year old taking pictures is hard work! She also wanted to see her picture just about every time I took one. 🙂 She can have all the snacks she wants. Well, at lease when Gra Gra is there for backup. Thanks Gra Gra!

Emily is such a stunning preggo lady. I love the photos we got of just her and the baby Finn bump. She looked amazing, the light was just right and her dress was simply elegant against the nature background and mountains in the distance.

Drew and Emily are the type of people who are just so easy to be around because they always make you feel welcome. They are two genuine and kind people whom I am so glad we get to call friends. I am so happy for them as they welcome the 4th member of their family little Finn. I cannot wait to meet the little guy and snuggle with that sweet baby! Congrats you two! Come on out any day now baby Finn!

TPC Valencia Proposal: Seth & Lindsey

Today I get to share the sweetest proposal! Seth proposed to Lindsey at the Tournament Players Club in Valencia and it was such a sweet surprise to capture. Seth contacted me at the end of June to see if I was available and let me in on all the surprise shenanigans. Initially I thought it was just their engagement party but the more we got to talking about the details Seth explained how he wanted to propose to Lindsey and have me there to capture it all go down. Sweet! Proposals are so much fun to photograph! I love all the planning and scheming that goes on behind the scenes to make everything special for the bride-to-be.

When Seth and Lindsey pulled up to the TPC I was out front pretending to get photographs of the building and as they walked by me I asked if they wouldn’t mind posing for a few photos for the venue. Seth was worried that Lindsey was going to say no because they were meeting someone for dinner (or so she thought that’s all they were doing). To Seth’s surprise Lindsey said sure to taking a quick photo! We then proceeded to walk down around the side of the building to a pretty staircase where I asked them to stand for a photo. I stepped back a bit and then said “”Ok, this is perfect!”. Seth then knelt down on one knee and proposed to Lindsey! Her face says is all, she was so surprised and happy.

After the proposal Lindsey had another surprise waiting for her. All their family flew in from Oklahoma and as Seth and Lindsey rounded the corner on the patio they were all standing there cheering for them and excited to congratulate the happy couple. Lindsey was again shocked and so happy to have all their family their to share such a special time in their lives.

Congrats Seth & Lindsey!

TAP Ranch: Nicole & Jesse

I am excited to share Nicole and Jesse’s rustic wedding at TAP Ranch near Santa Clarita on the blog today! These two are the nicest people and so easy going.

They started off their wedding day getting ready at the Sweetwater Movieland Ranch. This is also where they had their First Look and took some portraits together and with their bridal party. It was an overcast day which was perfect for having some nice even light in their photos!

After they we finished at Sweetwater we headed over to TAP Ranch for the wedding ceremony and reception. The best part about TAP Ranch is that it’s a horse ranch and who doesn’t love horses? The guests were seated on hay bales and the ceremony took place at the top of a small hill by one of the barns. It did start raining a little towards the end of the ceremony and got pretty chilly but everyone still kept smiling!

The reception took place under the stars with pretty patio lights. Their first dance was so beautiful to watch. As the music played in the background they both were beaming and even tearing up over how happy they were to be married.

I think my favorite part from Nicole and Jesse’s day was the look on Jesse’s face when he saw Nicole for the first time. Jesse covered his mouth with his hand as tears began to well up in his eyes. It was perfect!

Congrats Nicole and Jesse! I am so happy for the two of you! Thank you for having be capture your beautiful day. Your love for one another, kind demeanors and easy going personalities were what I loved about working with the two of you. All the best to you both in your future together…Megan

The Castaway Burbank: Adriana & Aaron

Adriana and Aaron’s wedding day at the Castaway Restaurant in Burbank was full of laughter, smiles and pretty details. These two have been nothing but amazing to work with. It’s so fun to meet with a them, talk about their wedding day and then months later see it all come together so beautifully. I’m so excited for them and their new beginning as Mr. and Mrs. Zell.

Everyone was so very excited for these two and to see their dreams come true as they tied the knot! They both had the biggest smiles and there were many times throughout the day where their happiness was so much so that their eyes welled up with tears. It started when they exchanged gifts with one another before seeing each other at the ceremony, then during the first look with her dad and brother, continued just before and during the ceremony and then more happy tears during the speeches at the reception. It was so evident just how much these two love one another and their families.

The mountains in the background of the ceremony site were so pretty and so were all the trees surrounding them. Adriana looked stunning in her gorgeous dress and to top it off she had the most amazing bouquet of white peonies. I am a sucker for peonies, they are probably my favorite flower or at least the runner up to tulips.

As the day went on and the reception began they continued with their big smiles and had the best time with their friends and family at the reception.

Congrats Adriana & Aaron!! I wish nothing but the very best for you two in your future as Mr. and Mrs. Thank you for allowing my team to document your day and being so amazing to work with!
