Cherry Ranch Wedding: Taylor & Alex

I’m so very excited to share Taylor and Alex’s wedding at their family’s cherry ranch in Leona Valley. Leona Valley is just a short drive from Santa Clarita and I always love the view on the way there. There are several farms, ranches, orchards and vineyards along the way.

Taylor and Alex had their first date as seniors in high school at the homecoming dance back in 2007. How sweet is that! Their love for one another continued to grow and they soon knew that what they had was more than just a dating relationship but something they wanted to keep forever. Alex proposed with breakfast in bed in their new home and the moment couldn’t have been more perfect! See their engagement session here: Taylor & Alex’s Engagement

Their family and close friends are very important to them which is why they quickly decided that they wanted to have a cozy intimate outdoor wedding and ceremony. Alex suggested his family’s cherry ranch and Taylor jumped at the opportunity. You will definitely see in the photos that it turned out to be the most perfect place for their wedding. Seriously dreamy!!

They hit the ground running with all the plans to transform the property. Given their many amazing talents as a couple there were several DIY details that they made themselves. From building tables, a bar, corn hole games, and giant Jenga to hanging cafe and twinkle lights and weed whacking they literally put blood sweat and happy tears into their wedding. Alex and Taylor didn’t realize was how much they would love the planning process and how it would provide such an amazingly creative way for them to collaborate and create a day that expressed who they were as a couple.

Among many the many gorgeous details I loved the single row of handmade tables for their family style reception and that Taylor wore her Grandmother’s heirloom vintage watch among her other bracelets on her wedding day. Incorporating something personal and meaningful into your wedding is always a good idea!

Congrats Taylor and Alex! You two were a dream to work with and your wedding day was absolutely gorgeous! It was my honor to be able to document your love and many amazing wedding details. I wish you two all the best and many many years of happiness as your spend your forever together as Mr. and Mrs. Copeland. – Megan

Bloomgren Ranch Wedding: Amanda & Jim

Amanda and Jim’s wedding at Bloomgren Ranch here in Santa Clarita this fall was a beautiful day in many ways. The day started off with the girls getting ready at Valencia Blo Lounge where they all spent the morning getting prettied up, laughing and just having a good time hanging out together. I loved the curls in Amanda’s hair! The guys hung out at the house and enjoyed a chill morning getting ready and having a few cigars. After everyone was mostly ready to go we headed to the ranch for getting dressed just before the ceremony.

The ceremony took place at the top of the hill overlooking the reception area. There were some beautiful tall trees and giving some nice shade for all the guests in the seating area. Jim’s jaw dropped when he saw Amanda coming down the isle. She was such a beautiful bride! They shared a few laughs as they exchanged vows and then stepped to the side where together they did their sand ceremony. They were both beaming at the end of the ceremony and their exit photos are some of my favorite from the day.

During cocktail hour and into the reception Amanda & Jim chose to have a mobile coffee cart on site instead of having cocktails. Being a coffee lover myself I thought that was a pretty cool idea and the guests loved it! Brilliant! I now thing every wedding needs a mobile coffee cart. 🙂

The reception under the stars made for a beautiful evening for dinner, toasts, dancing and enjoying the company of all their friends and family.

Congrats Amanda & Jim! You two were amazing to work with and seeing the love you two have for one another was a beautiful thing for me to be able to document. All the best to you two and your future as the new Mr. & Mrs. Davis! – Megan

College Graduation: Maddie

Maddie is a soon to be college grad! She’ll be graduating from Azusa Pacific University this May and to celebrate such an accomplishment she wanted to have a little graduation photo session. She’s so gorgeous and I love how her session turned out. I had so much fun with her and you would never know that she was so nervous about having her photos taken.

We started off her session at Towsley Canyon in Newhall. It’s so pretty in that area right now with all the green! We walked a little ways up the trail and our first stop was a cute tree near a creek bed so if you look hard you can see a little water in the background. Water!! Yes, I get excited about finding water being that we live in SoCal and I don’t get to see much natural flowing water. I do love that in the Santa Clarita area we have a few spots that we can escape to and enjoy nature, the birds chirping and during the winter/spring even find a little water.

As we headed back to the parking lot we stopped a couple times along the dirt trail as we saw little areas that looked cute. Maddie’s dress from Free People was so pretty and perfect for a few twirl photos in the middle of the trail. We didn’t hear any rattle snakes out just yet since the weather has still been somewhat cool so we ventured into the tall grass just a little ways. The photos in the tall grass are some of my favorite photos from her session but I have a lot of favorites! Thank you snakes for not coming out just yet.

After we finished at Towsley we headed to the Newhall Library in Old Town Newhall for a few more photos and a quick clothing change. The library gave us a different background for some more sophisticated photos with a graduation cap.

Congrats on graduating Maddie! All your hard work taking on more than the average work load is about to pay off! Loved photographing you and chatting about life during the drive! – Megan

Maternity: My Bump & PinkBlush Giveaway

It’s hard to believe that in JUST FIVE short weeks (or about that) we’ll be holding our sweet girl. I really can hardly believe it! I go from freaking out one second to being extremely excited to finally hold her the next second. In celebration of nearing the end of my pregnancy I’ve teamed up with PinkBlush on a super sweet $75 giveaway that I’ll tell you more about at the end. Our lives are about to change dramatically but also so much sweeter. I cannot wait to see her face and hold her tiny hands. For some reason when we saw the first detailed ultrasound and it was seeing her little hands that made me shed a tear. Love those little hands!

In the midst of growing a baby you get a little bigger in the mid-section and at a certain point you can no longer squeeze in that cute dress you once loved. Sad but at the same time it’s weird that for the first time in my life I actually feel more comfortable in my own skin than ever before. It’s hard to explain but while I am more ready than ever to not have a bump in the way that changes just about every movement I try to make, I’m also not afraid to wear a bathing suit or clothing that clearly displays the bump.

One of my favorite maternity clothing stores is PinkBlush Maternity! I’m in love with their Pink Lace Dress! Fits so well and who doesn’t love lace?! The best thing about both of the dresses I own from them is that I’ll still be able to wear them after baby girl arrives. I purchased the dress you’ll see at the end of this post for my baby shower and LOVED it! It’s so flowy and comfortable.

Now for the giveaway details! We’re giving away a $75 gift card to use on either one of their sites PinkBlush or PinkBlush Maternity. They have super cute maternity and non-maternity clothing so you don’t have to be preggo to enter! Head over to my Instagram and find the giveaway photo for more details on how to enter!

Santa Clarita Family Photos: Winning Family

Today I get to share a family session of a sweet family from right here in Santa Clarita! The Winnings are such nice people and their kids were so much fun.

When Kyle contacted me a while back to set up a session we had to go back and forth for a while with cancelations due to his daughter’s health but we finally schedule a day where the details all worked and everyone was healthy. Their daughter Jasmine was born with Heterotaxy which basically means she only has half of a heart. This of course means lots of extra care, especially when the cold bug is going around. Oftentimes she has to go on oxygen and stay home until they can get her stabilized and back to being healthy. I of course was more than happy to postpone their session as many times as we needed to to make sure everyone was happy and healthy. So with that being said I’m so excited get to share their session today!

The Winning’s live over in Bridgeport here in Santa Clarita which is a pretty little community with a lake in the center. So many great places to take photos around that area and also very convenient just to walk out your front door for your family session rather than having to travel somewhere.

We walked around some of the fountains and over by the lake as the boys led the way most of the time. Dylan brought along his soccer ball and Mom even jumped in to tried to steal it from him in a quick game on the grassy area near the lake. Nathan couldn’t get enough of the ducks and had a ton of fun chasing them out of the way for us. 🙂 You’ll definitely see a few photos of him chasing the ducks.

Thank you Winning Family for your kindness and having me photograph your beautiful family! -Megan
