I first met Jessica & Jimmy back in May for their wedding photography consultation and from the beginning they were super easy to get along with. They are both hard workers and Jessica owns a local dance studio named Turning Pointe Dance Academy. It may sound cliche but they are just down to earth people and a sweet couple to be around.
They picked the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, CA as their engagement session location and I was super excited about shooting there. It was quite the hike and the place was packed but we had a great time! Congrats to you two! I am so excited about your wedding next year at the Hellenic Center!!
Had a blast at the SoCal Photog Shootout over the weekend in San Juan Capistrano at the Serra Plaza! This is just a little peek at the photographs, more to come soon!
I’ve recently fallen in love with these Send Off Ribbon Wands. I think I mostly love them just because they are used in the send off scene in Sense and Sensibility which happens to be one of my favorite movies. I didn’t realize these even existed until watching the movie. I just love timeless wedding traditions and wish I would have thought to have these at my wedding.
You can get these personalized Send Off Ribbons online at weddingfavors.org and if you’d like to see the clip from Sense and Sensibility I’ve posted it below.
Last year I started a new tradition, a fun and creative Valentine’s Day inspiration shoot. It’s my one shoot a year where I get to be as creative as I want with the location and little details. I picked out all the decor and picked up the cupcakes from Nadia Cakes in Palmdale, CA. Below are several photographs from my Valentine’s Day inspiration shoot at the Ventura Beach Pier in Ventura, CA. I love the lace detail on the bride’s gown! (Thanks Luke and Sharon! You two were perfect for it!) This shoot was also featured in Sparkle & Hay wedding blog and you can see that post here.
Abby from Nadia Cakes called me this morning to let me know that my name was in the AV Press for the pictures of their event for TLC‘s show Fabulous Cakes. So excited to see my name in the paper for the first time! This is the second appearance for Nadia Cakes on the Fabulous Cakes show and as usual the cake was amazing!
Jaclyn and Justin meet unexpectedly while out with friends one night. Jaclyn didn’t even want to go out that night. Who would have thought that they would get married one day? Their wedding day took place at Hacienda Reyes Ranch in Palmdale, CA on Sept. 4, 2010 at 5pm. Their western style wedding had a mixture of purples and yellows for the colors. The guys all wore cowboy hats and boots and the girls wore cute summer dresses from David’s Bridal. As the guests arrived they had Lemonade and Sweet Tea available to keep them cool which the bride put together with wooden boxes and rusty metal signs to go with her rugged cowboy theme. Jaclyn was very much a DIY bride and she along with her friend Audrey did most the decorating. Her reception centerpieces were made up of wooden boxes with purple and yellow flowers from The Farmer’s Wife Florist. They also had candles in old fashioned canning jars with twine ribbon around them. She used canning jars with sunflowers in them to hang on the chairs that lined the isle where the ceremony took place. They made a card holder from a long wooden box and rusty piece of metal. Jaclyn’s decoration details really added to her rugged style wedding.
