Freeman Family: Santa Claita Famiy Photos

I had such a great time photographing this beautiful family! Look at them! I met Stephenie back in July at her sister-in-law, Lindsey’s engagement party. Stephenie helped pull off a huge surprise for Lindsey and did amazing with everything. She mentioned to me at the party that she wanted to get some family photos done this year and we later got their session on the calendar.

I met the Freeman’s for their session at 9am on location. I’m so used to photographing in the afternoon so it was nice to have the crisp morning air for a change. With the time change just happening this month we were able to get some warm morning light shining through the trees. So pretty! The weather was pretty perfect on the day of their session. No wind to mess up the hair or anything, not too cold or hot and we only had a few annoying bugs buzzing around. 🙂

For my longer family sessions I like to break everyone up and get individual shots of everyone and several different arrangements with the kids and parents. It gives some variety and there’s always different uses where different photos are needed.

The boys were goof balls. Of course, what boys aren’t? I love that boys are the silly ones though, gives some comedic relive and they always make for a fun shoot. The boys are always the ones with a smart remark up their sleeve that slips out at just the right time to make Mom laugh when she’s in the spotlight with Dad getting her picture taken. These boys are also such handsome young men! Watch out boys, the girls are going to be chasing you around soon if they aren’t already!

Thank you for allowing me to photograph your beautiful and kind family! I’ve so enjoyed getting to know you all a little better and give you memories to keep forever! -Megan

Santa Clarita Family Photos: Winning Family

Today I get to share a family session of a sweet family from right here in Santa Clarita! The Winnings are such nice people and their kids were so much fun.

When Kyle contacted me a while back to set up a session we had to go back and forth for a while with cancelations due to his daughter’s health but we finally schedule a day where the details all worked and everyone was healthy. Their daughter Jasmine was born with Heterotaxy which basically means she only has half of a heart. This of course means lots of extra care, especially when the cold bug is going around. Oftentimes she has to go on oxygen and stay home until they can get her stabilized and back to being healthy. I of course was more than happy to postpone their session as many times as we needed to to make sure everyone was happy and healthy. So with that being said I’m so excited get to share their session today!

The Winning’s live over in Bridgeport here in Santa Clarita which is a pretty little community with a lake in the center. So many great places to take photos around that area and also very convenient just to walk out your front door for your family session rather than having to travel somewhere.

We walked around some of the fountains and over by the lake as the boys led the way most of the time. Dylan brought along his soccer ball and Mom even jumped in to tried to steal it from him in a quick game on the grassy area near the lake. Nathan couldn’t get enough of the ducks and had a ton of fun chasing them out of the way for us. 🙂 You’ll definitely see a few photos of him chasing the ducks.

Thank you Winning Family for your kindness and having me photograph your beautiful family! -Megan

Santa Clarita Family Photos: Bishop Family

I love that I get to photograph the same families year after year and I love this family! I’ve known the Bishop’s for several years now and they are some of the most kind and loving people on the planet! I never have trouble getting natural smiles from everyone either because they always know how to make one another smile with their goofy remarks they throw around. It’s always a fun time to listen to them poke fun.

I met up with them at a neighborhood park in Santa Clarita and it was the perfect spot for their family photos this year. The colors they chose for everyone to wear were so pretty! I feel like their clothing and color choices went perfectly with their location and the cooler weather this time of year. I also LOVE that awesome big tree where we took the photos of the entire family together. It was meant to be. They are a family with roots in Christ and I know that they mean the world to one another. Having that huge tree in the background was sort of a perfect representation of their strong family tree.

Thank you all for trusting me document your family year after year! I so enjoy every time I get to see you all! -Megan

Smith Family: Santa Clarita

Meet the Smith Family! Todd is the Pastor of Crossroads Community Church here in Santa Clarita. When Eric and I moved to Santa Clarita a little over 4 years ago the first thing we did was try out a few churches in the area. Our first Sunday at Crossroads community church we knew that this church was right where God wanted us. God is using Pastor Todd and his family in mighty ways here in Santa Clarita! We love this family and are so excited about the future of Crossroads and moving into the building!

I’m so happy with with how their family session turned out and love the location they chose. Mentryville is always a fun place to explore. The weather seemed to mostly cooperate. It wasn’t blistering hot or anything and other than swatting a few flies here and there it was a beautiful evening. Towards the end of their session we got some beautiful backlight and I think those photos are my favorite. 🙂 They may not believe it as most people don’t but they were so easy to photograph and they are such a good looking family! They have such kind and genuine smiles that seemed to come naturally. Well, maybe after making fun of each other but that’s what family is for right? I love to see how families interact together and make each other laugh. It’s so much fun and I always find myself laughing behind the camera as I’m taking photos. Laughing with them of course, not at them. 🙂

Thank you Pastor Todd and family for having me photograph you all! It was such a pleasure! Thank you for following God’s leading in your lives and for being such kind, loving and humble people that we get to walk alongside of as part of the Crossroads Community Church family.

Reese is One: Mermaid Birthday

Get ready to see the cutest little mermaid you ever did see! Oh my goodness! The cuteness is just too much! My husband and I met Drew and Emily through our church three or four years ago now and have become good friends with them. I remember when Emily announced to our small group that she was pregnant and it seems as if time has flow by. I feel like it was only recently that I was photographing Reese’s newborn session but it’s been an entire year and she just keeps getting more cute as the days go by. Now Reese is ONE! I can’t believe it! Such a cutie pie! I love watching little ones grow and seeing how they change and starting showing their character.  Happy One Year Reesey!!
